    Cigarette Smoke

I just acquired a MEGO, and it stinks so bad from cigarette smoke I literally have it in the garage. What are the best ways to get it out of the cloth, and also off the body, because the plastic stinks as bad as the clothing.

Hand wash clothes in gentle soap. Let air dry.
Bodies can be washed too. Let out water from any holes in the body parts.

I put mine in a plastic grocery bag wrapped in a downy dryer sheet and I throw another in loose for good measure. Tie it up tight and let it sit for a week. That always works for me.

I also put a dryer sheet in my play set boxes and change them every few months. That keeps those smelling fresh.

I hate cigarette smell on collectibles...hell...on everything.

Had gotten my share of them even from fellow members in here (will not name names)...the funny thing...is that they are oblivious to the smell themselves...when I complain or point it out...they say..."what are you talking about?"

As a smoker, I can tell you we've either become so used to it we don't notice, or our scent receptacles are burned out & useless.

I'm a smoker. I do not smoke inside the house and try to wash my hands after every cigarette or at least before I handle any of my stuff or stuff I am selling.

Just wanted to close out this thread that I started by saying the answer provided was perfect. I left the MEGO in a ziplock wrapped in a Febreeze Dryer Sheet, and after 3 days swapped it out for a fresh one. Now after a week the smell is much better. I don't smell any smoke on the clothing, and the body has a faint smell when right up in your face, so I am happy with the results. Thanks for the help.

Haven't smoked in 13 years but didn't smoke in the house when I did. I tried to smoke away from non-smokers and never really got comfortable with it.
Glad to be done with them!
