    POTA Question

OK, I have tried to research this for myself, and just get confused, so I am just going to ask:

I am completing a loose POTA collection. If I already have a Cornelius, will a Galen just be the exact same thing loose? Will I simply have 2 of the exact same figure, and since they are not in a package, could not even tell they are two different characters?

Is there no real need for a Galen in a complete loose collection, or are there some slight differences that make it important to have both?

Would a novice look at the shelf and say "Why do you have 2 of that one?"

    Thanks

Most people seem to follow the rule of thumb of if he has "green" ears, it's Galen and if he's green eared and on a T2 body, it's almost certain you have a Galen...

Other than ear coloration and body type, there's no real difference(s), at least not that I know of... Some might say if the "bib" is brown, it's Cornelius, but I think there's too many of the "purplish/maroonish" colored bibs for all of those to be Galens... I think Cornelius came with both colored bibs, but I could be wrong on that...

I think ( hope ) this will answer your question.

As to you last question, probably a novice would ask that.

        Yup, that did it, thanks!

"There is no absolute way to differentiate the figures, however, since both sets of Planet of the Apes figures were released on the Mego "Type 1" body - that is, the body which used metal joints, most prominent in the wrists -- AND on "Type 2" (plastic jointed) bodies. What does all this mean? Simply, a male Chimp on a Type 2 body is probably Galen, while a male Chimp on a Type 1 body is probably Cornelius, but it is impossible to be sure unless the figures are carded."

I think you question is reasonable--I have a nice loose POTA set, too, & it is only the completist in me that wants a Galen.

I've always thought it would be neat to have a brown-suited Cornelius/Galen variant and reserve him as "Galen."
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

^ I can never seem to catch one--and there's always the dispute as to whether it's brown fabric or just faded.
