    Repair Help

I had a Penguin with detacted arm and leg. I took the rubber band out of a Superman body. The leg and arm is loose. It looks fine since he has clothes on and stands and moves fine, but it's still annoying. Maybe I just stretched the rubber band too much or are they different for those figures?

I am also worried about what a pain it's going to be to repair that Superman later.

The old band you used is probably stretched out of shape over time. I think Doc Mego sells replacements. There is a Tips and Tricks section in CustomMego that covers some repairs like restringing etc. http://www.megomuseum.com/custom/t2repair.shtml

I might be wrong but with the Penguin body being a "fat" body with the torso in one piece there might be a difference in the length of the elastic compared to a normal body and that could be why it's loose.

That T2 repair page comes up blank for me.

I fixed a Shazam and when I was done, same thing. Loose, so it must be stretching of the rubber.

You may be right,i compared some fat body torsos i have and one is shorter than the other.I think Mego made three different types of fat body torsos,if his Penguin is a short torso version like the one i have, then it looks like the bands off the T2 Superman would be too long.

I've had original elastics seem perfectly fine with their original location and as soon as I "transplant" it, the age just gets to them and the extra stretch to put them onto the new leg or arm, etc.; it just doesn't come back with the same snap it had.
            It's all good!

              Good and Bad rubber bands

Obviously the bottom rubber band in this pic, is the better one.
              It measures about 1-1/8 inches.
This is one that I would reuse.
The top one is probably too loose.
Just check and see if it is stretched out.
              Hope this helps!

                This.

I fixed my Superman tonight with a regular O-Ring, like the ones found in GI Joes. Works pretty well. In time when I find beater bodies, I will replace them.
