Please help a newbie value his Iron Man..

I'm a newbie on this forum, and I'd like to introduce myself first.. Hi, I'm Pete from Longmeadow, Ma. Not a collector of Mego Toys, but this is mine from childhood.. I actually remember asking my grandfather for a little extra $$ so I could buy this while we were shopping.. $3.49! Ha!! While cleaning out his house I found this in the cellar. Can't believe it's still in it's box after all these years.

Seeing as I am a stranger here, I'd like to offer up some feedback from the community that I'm a senior member of.. (just in case someone wants this)

I've been collecting vintage arcade and pinball machines for over 15 years.. Wish they were as small as the Iron Man..

So on to the item.. He's pretty minty, his outfit is perfect but could use a cleaning after all his years boxed up. The yellow sticker is missing from his button. Belt, gloves, and boots are near perfect.. As it was stored away from sunlight. Paint on his head is all there, no visible damage.

The box is pretty good.. Slight tear on the top, pictured. There is a little bit of red marker outlining the window and at the bottom on the logo. On the back there is another marker outline going around "cut on dotted line". Original price tag is stuck on the front.

I've tried to research him and can't find a price for one boxed. I've seen him loose or just a box for sale. If someone could let me know what to ask, or if anyone would like to buy him.. please make an offer. I'm not a fan of ebay, rather go directly to the collectors.

WOW, very cool! I can't tell you exactly how much it's worth, but I would guess around $100 or so. The last one I remember seeing was last year for $127 with a really nice box. Your box is missing the insert, but looks to be in decent shape. Prices really do vary, so I can't say for sure, but at least this might give you some kind of idea.

What I like about this is the fact its your own toy from the 70s , do you remember the last time you seen it before rediscovering it again ? must have great memory's of you playing with it back in the day , are you selling it or keeping it .......and as for storage makes me wonder what other great toys are lying in dusty basements waiting to be found .. in the uk we mostly have lofts where we keep stuff .

I remember buying it.. and being really excited to get home and play with it.. But my grandparents didn't live close by, so I may have only played with it a few times in all it's years.. As I had forgotten that it was even there.

That's got to be it, cause the box would have been tossed or damaged much more than it is.. Not to mention that they lived in NYC, so I really never brought the toy outside where it would have been prolly covered in dirt..

I was quite rough on my toys back then, my poor GI Joes are all buried in my parent's backyard.. haha. So it's QUITE rare to actually find an almost new toy that i didn't destroy..

It's a neat find, and my almost 2 year old son want's to play with it bad! But alas, it needs to go to someone who will take good care of it.

Yes, it's for sale. Just looking to get close to whatever the current "collector" market price is these days..

Kool story , Its maybe your grandparents that saved it and put it back into the box once you had finished playing with it , I know mind did that with toys I had stored at there house ...storing it neatly until my next visit

I would put the value at $1,987,403. You can't put a value on a memory but thats where I would start.
