    Mego Paint Remover

    Hi everyone.

I've always appreciated the help I get here so thanks everyone!

I have a Mego head of Captain America, Captain Marvel, and Batman that I'd like to fix up and paint over. I've searched the threads to get a handle on what types of paint to use, but what about if I want to remove the old paint?

Straight acetone with a Q-tip. Then wash the head with baking soda and water to remove the chemicals......

I use toluene-based thinner to remove paint from vinyl.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

i have used windsor newton brush cleaner and remover on some doll heads. The nice thing about it is that it's not toxic. I haven't tried it on mego specifically but what I did use it on (1/6 scale vinyl heads) worked better than acetone or anything I've used only without the smell and toxicity. I read about it on a "reborning" forum. Yeah baby dolls.

believe it or not, I've had success using my fingernail to remove small areas of paint from mego heads.
            Fresh, not from concentrate.

Thank you for the suggestions! The brush cleaner would be ideal, but I have immediate access to a bottle of acetone at work in the lab so I'll swab some on my Captain America Mego during a break and see how it works. I have two Mego Batman's that I think I can salvage with simply painting over the cowl with interior blue auto paint and the rest of the skin tone and eyes I can manage with painting acyrilic by hand. Captain America is the worse of the bunch so he needs a complete paint remover maker-over.
