    Mr Fantastic 12" Figure

What's the story with Reed Richard's appearing on the packaging of the 12" Spiderman? (in at least two iterations!)

Was a Mr Fantastic Figure planned for the 12" line? Has any former Mego Employee ever commented on this, and if so how far along in the development process they got? (it went to at least the packaging!).

He was obviously replaced by The Hulk by the time they got around to making two other Marvel Heroes. (no doubt due to the popularity of the TV show).

I can't believe I never noticed that. He would've been an awesome 12" fig.

I noticed that a year or so back.. I'd be interested as to why 'he' was selected, over some other more colorful Marvel hero.

It's interesting he was used, perhaps Mego wondering whether the 'stretch armstrong' gimmick was going to be profitable..?

Oh wow I honestly never paid attention that..... Very cool. I wonder if there was an intention behind it or if it was just a whatever type thing.

I always thought they intended to do FF figs to go with the cartoon, but it was a herbie flop....

I remember seeing the 12" Spidey box in stores when I was a kid and then unsuccessfully looking for the 12" Mr. Fantastic everywhere (I was always a big FF nut). I didn't find out that he was never actually produced until over 10 years later.

Yeah, I remember seeing him on the box, but always assumed he was there just to promote the Marvel license. I never thought they would make only one member of the FF in the 12 inch scale. Although I will say other lines have certainly enjoyed the idea of doing only one or two members of the team. Very strange phenomenon.

That's a good theory. Do the timelines between the second FF cartoon and the 12" Superheroes match up?

I know Parkdale Novelty footed the bill for the initial wave, which would have included Spider-man, Batman, Superman (and 9" Robin?). It makes sense that they would have wanted to leverage the 12" body. With the Torch out of the picture, Mr Fantastic would be the likely candidate without having to tool up The Thing's body.
