Mego Ape Boots? What's Up With These Boots?

A friend of mine bought a collection of Mego Apes from off of ebay. One of the apes had a pair of cloth boots on. Now, I've never heard of or seen any Mego ape ever coming with cloth boots. But I thought I'd share this one the forum for member feedback. So, is this a fact that apes came with cloth boots for a short weird run? Or is this bo-guss?

They are cute, but they must be homemade.

I can't imagine those are authentic. It would take more HK labor to sew those than to use existing molded stock--that's why POTA's wear inaccurate moccs & army boots.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

I pretty much feel the same that these are home made. I couldn't see MEGO taking any time to try to make even one of these. Going to MEGO Museum members is the best way to de-bunk crap like this. I was keeping my fingers crossed that maybe like the prototype Soldier Ape with the leather bandolier, this could be a new ape mystery. But I don't think so!

I bided on that auction also and looking back at the pictures, no ape figure was actually wearing these. They were just included along with other pieces with the ape figures. There was an AJ figure in there too. They look kinda like the socks on a chips uniform.
