    Black Hole Figure Repair

    Good Day All:

I have some older action figures from when I was a kid that I have recently discovered in storage.

One of them being the black sentry figure from Disney's Black Hole movie. I think his name is STAR.

He is in great condition, however the joint from his elbow to wrist on the left arm is somewhat loose. The pin is still there, just loose.

Does anyone know how to tighten this joint?

    Thanks folks!

really you don't want to mess with any repairs on those joints, they do more harm than good. but if you really want him to hold a certain pose, get a thin piece of clear plastic (like cut from a bubble of a figure package) and cut it to a small size and gently push it inbetween the two parts of the arm ... make sure it doens't fit too tight.

It's a common problem in all of Mego's Micronaut-style figures. If you're careful, you can also re-press the rivet and give it a bit more tension, but with only the most minimal of pressure. I'd hesitate to push anything into the separation of the joint, because if there's some cracking in the plastic around the rivet, it might split.

I know of an individual who re-rivets Micronauts and other figures that use the same riveting style. He might be willing to do it for you, or provide you with exhaustive instructions on how-to. His blog is here: Homeworld You can see from his custom figures that riveting is one of his specialities. He's also up in Canada as well, so you'd probably just need to mail it to him. Check with him.

STAR is a rarity. He'd be worth checking in with Austin at HOMEWORLD to see if he'd fix him for you.
