the toy was based on a japanese live action show. spiderman when in trouble jumps into a huge robot and uses the robot to beat up the bad guy.

Yeah, Popy made several toys of the robot, Leopardon, including two diecast Chogokin versions, a couple vinyl and plastic ones, and best of all, a two foot tall Jumbo Machinder version, that also included a plastic figure of Spider-man. That one would be awesome to own, but would cost thousands of dollars, if you could find one. He looks fantastic though.
Bandai did a new diecast version of Leopardon recently, as a part of their Soul of Chogokin line, and it also included a vinyl Spider-man. I think he's a really sharp looking robot.
BTW, the TV show was officially released in a DVD box set in Japan, but it is very expensive, and unfortunately it has no English subs. But there are "grey market" subbed DVDs of the show floating around on ebay, etc.Comment

damn it!
I was going to buy it, I thought it was a japanese version of the spiderman Mego!
I know that they released spidey in a popy box but I though this was their version of it. I don't collect popy so I wont be buying it.Ithe Monster Hero
