    question about supes

this guy has a date of 1971 on his back, and his head says 1972.
he looks a little too clean to me to have been the first one I owned.
    I'm thinking he's a newer replacement.
did mego use older surplus heads/bodies for newer figures?
or did I put a newer costume on an older body?????
it was a looooooooong time ago!!!
(obviously, as you can see how I used masking tape to give him more muscles!)

    BUMP

maybe I was too vague?? ha ha

I was wondering if mego sold figures using older bodies/heads?
this guy looks way too new to have been one of the first ones my folks bought me.
can anyone tell from the pic if he's from 72? or newer?

It's a t-1 body. All your pieces are correct for it to be original. The head was sculpted after the body, hence the different copyright dates. The Superman figures released in 1981 also say 1972 on the neck. The body that replaced the 1971 body has a 1974 copyright date and was the standard body from 1975 on.
      Hope that helps...

Are you sure that all T1s came with nylon shorts? I thought they changed the shorts before moving on to T2 bodies.
Nostalgia just ain’t what it used to be.

It isn't a t-2 bodysuit. The "ribbing" of the material is the non-nylon t-1 bodysuit. The later Superman figures had a smoother material.

            cool! so he's original!
other than his beat up hands and the battered "s" he looks pretty good!
thanks all for the detective work
