    Small Treasures --- or not.

    Hello all:

This is my first post on this forum and was hoping someone in the know could help me out.

I was recently sent a box of my old action figures from when I was a kid. In it is a series of 8" mego figures (includes the penguin, hulk, spock, dr.mcoy, etc).

As well, there are a number of various figures such as black hole old bob, star, huminoid, battlestar galactica muffit, original clash of the titans charon, perseus, etc.

I was a careful child obviously, because everything seems to be in very good shape - all the figures seem to have their various accessories with little play wear.

Just wondering how I can get a sense of which have value and which may not. Is there a web site to get an idea of this?

    Thanks for listening folks!

welcome aboard! Nice to have a new member. Hopefully you'll stick around. This is a great community. :-)

Those figures certainly have some value, and all depends on condition and variation.
If you can show some photos, I'm sure that folks here can chime in as to what they might pay or expect to pay for what you've got.

Good time to have a Humanoid. :-)
One just ended on eBay for over $900

A free photobucket account is an easy way to provide photographs.

    Cheers!
    Bryan

Thanks for the well wishes and welcomes!

I will take a few photos and figure out how to post them shortly.

I heard from another online fellow about puuting the figures back onto reproduction cards. Although I am not sure they make Black Hole reproduction cards - or even where to buy them.

          Thanks again!

Just about all of the packages have been reproduced, though it doesn't really enhance the value of the original toy. It's more for some collectors to have a cost effective way of displaying their goodies.

If I were you and selling was the main concern, I would take photos of the pieces from all angles and just sell "as is" without taking the time to re-package.

            Best of luck!

Thanks for the tip on the card!

If the Humanoid figure is worth $900 now - it must be something that will become more valuable as time goes on. What makes it so rare (I just looked at mine - it is in mint condition with no scuffs to the chrome head, has the cloak and booties)?

I will take some pictures and post shortly.

Can't wait to see photos. :-)

And just keep in mind that value is always fluctuating. $900 today could be less or same or more tomorrow. One never knows what bidders will do.

Although the Humanoid figure is very difficult to find, it's no guarantee that the value will go up. I've been collecting Megos for more than 10 years and I've seen prices rise and fall...even on rare items. Some have dropped in value by more than 50% while other items have become more expensive as time has gone by. So really, you just never know what's going to happen to the value of a collectable.
Nostalgia just ain’t what it used to be.

                      Thanks for all the advice.

I fianlly got around to finding the figures and photographing them.

It appears that my brother drew with a red marker on the cloak of the Humanoid at the bottom.

Would anyone know what is the best way to attempt to remove the ink without changing the colour of the cloak?

The booties are there and not damaged.

Also - I have attached a picture of the "Old Bob" which appears to be in great shape. The decal is perfect and the paint is crisp. The only thing is the plastic oval base appears to have yellowed a bit.

                      Thoughts on the Humanoid?

Hmmm....it appears I cannot post images.

Not sure how to do this on this forum.

                        Help?
