Is Lion Rock named after the famous Hong Kong landmark?

Was Lion Rock, Mego's production arm in Hong Kong named after the famous mountain formation of the same name in Hong Kong?

Cool! Is there a story behind why they did that?

I climbed Lion Rock about ten years ago, can't believe I didn't put the two together until now.

I think they could see it from their Hong Kong offices...

So their offices would have been on the mainland-Kowloon side!

I'm heading to HK and China at the end of November, but I guess the remnants of the office/factory would be long gone by now.

Do you have the World's Greatest Toys book? I think there may be some info in there, I don't have time to scour for it.

                From the Neal Kublan interview:

Mego Museum: What is the deal with Lionrock?

NK: They were a trading company that {Mego} owned and it was named after a range of mountains on the Kowloon side that we could see.

They were our go between agents in Hong Kong, but we owned them

Mego Museum: Mego sold a lot of products under the Lion Rock name in England?

NK: Yeah, there was even ladies garment stuff after we went public. Wasn't our company but some guys started a company called "Dizzy Girl" and they were making these Polyester pants and Lionrock was the broker, the agent.

Well what was significant about that is they had an undergarment company in Lion Rock Trading that was very familiar with the fabrics of the time, came in handy when they were making doll clothes.
