    POTA astronaut belt

I am just getting back into the hobby after a 10 year hiatus but I remember that long ago it was believed that the astronaut came with either the white plastic belt or the elastic belt with the metal buckle thingy. Is this correct, my astronauat has the elastic belt. I also remember that the elastic belt was also an AJ accessory, Is it the correct part for my astronaut or do I need to start scouring for a plastic one?

    Thanks,
    DZ1

I've read where people say only the plastic belt is legit, but with the number of them around with the elastic belt it's hard to say... There's been a lot of them on eBay with the elastic belt, almost too many to convince me that every one of those Astronauts had their plastic belt replaced with an A/J belt... In any case, I need a plastic belt too...

The Museum galleries never show him with an elastic belt.

I've never seen one with an elastic belt but that doesn't mean it wasn't possible. I've also never seen an AJ with a plastic belt.
It would likely have to be an early, early issue.
Has anyone ever seen a vintage pic showing the Astro with an elastic belt?

Although that would confirm it, I doubt that the later ones on cards would have had the plastic belt. I would think if any of them had the elastic belts, it would have been the early boxed versions.

With all of the odd stuff I've seen in the vintage catalog pics and box art, that probably wouldn't help much. Maybe an old Christmas photo of a kid opening his POTA Astronaut. That would be a cool pic regardless of the belt!
Nostalgia just ain’t what it used to be.
