Question on stringing of 12" Mego

I don't collect any of the 12" lines but wanted to pick up Supes, Batman and Robin eventually. Anyway, I got Superman for a good price and he arrived today. I took off the outfit to check for cracks/breaks etc and noticed one side of the body had been restrung with regular rubber bands. the other band, original, I noticed went straight up from hip to shoulder, instead of crossways like the 8" scale. is that the way they strung the 12" figures or is mine just all messed up? I happend to have a few extra original bands in my kit and replaced the custom rubber bands. I ran it from hip to shoulder again since that was the way the other was. just curious if I should restring him altogether to put them crossways.

My 12" Hulk I won on ebay is strung just like the typical 8" type 2 mego, crossways with a pair of larger-type elastics. I'd imagine the other 12" mego figures would also be similiarly strung. Maybe in attempting to repair the 12" Superman, the owner choose to restrung it that way?

all of mine are the criss cross format like the t2 bodies, just that the elastic rubber piece is bigger than the 8" version.

that's what I figured. oh well, they hold pretty tight this way too so i will just nleave well enough alone for now. not like I am going to play with him or anything..LOL

also noted the cape is separate from the body suit, did they come this way or was it originally sewn onto the costume the way the 8" scale was?
