Can anyone talk me through this replica thing?

Mostly, I collect Power Rangers and DCUC but I'm sorta intrigued by the whole retro action line. Yet at the same time, I find the old stuff cooler. I think it's because I remember watching that old Richard Pryor movie "The Toy" where he and the kid are in the department store and there's all the old pink card Mego Batmans and it made me want one.

I'm not hung up on getting vintage figures when the replicas look pretty awesome but I'm sorta flying blind on all this T1, T2 stuff. Can anyone tell me what bodies, and specifically color replica clothes I'm supposed to use to assemble good replica Batman and Robins? Do I buy all this stuff from Dr. Mego? What about heads and emblems? Probably a bigger fan of the molded cowl/mask heads but, I dunno the removable ones might be cool. Can heads just be swapped?

Do the replica heads just pop right in place? Are they resin or soft vinyl?
