    Right verses Left

This is a stupid question. It is and it isn't.
Look at this pic. Would you call this a right arm or left arm?

I don't think everyone will have the same answer. I'd answer it from a psychical point of view and compare where the thumb is in relation to the body. And call it a left arm. I'm at an advantage that I have the actual plastic arm in front of me and can place it on myself and say this arm would be my left arm if it were my own body.

However, some people will look at this picture from a mental point of view and argue "I see the arm on the screen and if it were a mirror image of my arm this would be my right arm. I can see their point but if I placed this arm on a figure structurally it would be the figures left arm.
    Right?..... or Left?

    Left.

    Not "observer's left", "mirror-left", etc.

The figure's left, just as with a real person.

He didn't ask you to "police" his thread, did he? I think I had a good answer for his question. You just don't see how deep my answer really was.

My point was some people have the mirror mentality. If somebody has something on their face I show them on my face and say something. They go to the wrong side of their face because they must think I'm their mirror. I show them on me where it is on them, not where they would see it in the mirror. Lots of people look at a doll and think left for it's right and right for it's left.

Yeah, I think you're right about the mirror perspective. It is philosophical and based on perspective.
I felt silly starting this post and asking the question "Is a doll's right and left arm in reverse compared to humans" but I keep having people tell me I have the wrong arm listed when I sell an arm on ebay. And then I become unsure of myself.
So thanks for all the inputs dudes!

I know I'm a few days late to this party, but just to throw in my 2 cents, if you're dealing with an ebay listing, you may want to clarify by saying "The figure's left arm is broken (if you're looking at the front of the figure, it's the arm on the right. If you're looking at the back of the figure, it's the arm on the left). I know that sounds stupid, but it does clarify for anyone who's unsure. Even if you both think of the same arm when talking about the left arm, they might think YOU'RE thinking of it the other way. Better to be wordy and clear than concise and unclear (says the guy who always writes WAY more than necessary in many of his posts )
