    Mugato Body Identity Issues

    Hi all,

I have a Mugato orange T2 torso (and parts) here. It's definitely vintage, the color is right and the weight is right... everything feels mego about it but the production information has been smoothed out of the torso back in the mold. I've never had a Mugato before, so I'm not sure if this is standard, common, or even heard of.

It's not DM or CTVT (I've even got samples of both to compare)
Anyone have a loose vintage Mugato to check for me - or generally know what's up with this?

    Thanks!

    Hiya r,

I have had a few of them. Don't recall ever seeing a Muggy with the copyright rubbed off, tho. Of course, anything is possible with the Mego corp.

I can check mine when I get home tonight... unless somebody beats me to it...

There is the posibility that the body is actually from a Tim Mee Cochise or Geronimo. They had orange bodies that look almost identical to Mego bodies, but with the info 'rubbed off' of the back.
Nostalgia just ain’t what it used to be.

Oh - nice catch! I'll have to research up on that.

I haven't updated this page in years and the photos of the Tim Mee guys aren't great, but this will give you a starting point:

I was thinking that too, but I thought the colors were slightly different.
I'll have to drag out all the west stuff to compare.
When I get a chance I'll try to take a pic of the two vintage figs sans the outfits. (Life was so much easier before the flood - I could actually display/find things)
              Cheers,

Bonus! That is exactly what's in front of me. They're pretty wicked orange - they color match the EMCE Mugato parts just about perfectly.

How rare/obscure is this Tim Mee body type? *(If I were needing a dupe later on for instance)

Sorry the head is not on it. Being 1/4 Sioux and an enrolled tribal member, the 'comics spain looking bug eyed heads always rubbed me the wrong way. I can put the heads on the tim mee figures if you need better pix.
                  Cheers,

They show up relatively often. I wouldn't say they were common, but they're also not rare. Heck, there's probably a few people on here who have some extras if you're looking for them.
