AJ outfits artwork

Has anybody ever noticed that the artwork for the Action Jackson box hasn't got a picture of AJ on it? It's a picture of the Astronaut. So obviously they had that sculpt before the box art was produced. Even before POTA figures were planned. I wonder why they didn't use that head for AJ and went with the terrible sculpt they picked. It even has a drawing on the outfits box (the red box with blue header) of the Astronaut and says "Action Jackson sold separately".
Has this topic even been discussed here, or is this old news?

Its been mentioned before, but no definitive conclusions yet. Personally, I think the artwork inspired the sculpt. The Astronaut head was meant to be the new face of Action Jackson, but the AJ line was "retired" before it came to fruition. When it came time to do the Apes line they just dusted off the sculpt.( I'm even thinking they probably already had a bunch of them produced for the AJ line sitting around the factory. )

I thought the rumor was the POTA Astro was originally intended for Dinah-Mite's line? A friend or another boyfriend or maybe a bf for a never-made Dinah's gal pal?

Hey I never noticed that Lonnie, trouble is the Astronaut sculpt is no better than AJs . They should have used the Wayne sculpt like in the Baravelli ads.
