    Comc Action Heroes questions

I was wondering if anyone here is an expert on the Comic Action Heroes line, specifically the Fortress of Solitude playset. I just purchased the set recently after not having it since the mid 70s. (great to see it in person again) Anyway, I noticed there is a part that attaches to the back side of the door frame, that it supposed to hold the activator in place to blow off the door. I don't remeber that part back in the day, and my new, supposidly complete set, did not have that part, and the instructions do not show it listed. Yet on the back of the door you can see where this piece would snap into place.

I am aware that the later sets had this detail molded onto the backside for the redesign of the toy later in the 70s. Any thoughts on this?

It's strange to me how certain toys just do not show up, for example: The Comic Action Heroes...I do not see the carded figures too often, does anyone have an idea of the quantities produced for figures and the playsets? I noticed on the site that there ius info staing that there are 3 boxed examples of the Pocket Super heroes Batmobile...that is fascinating info. Is there any particular person who has researched details to how many numbers of any rare item, other than the Batmobile, exist for the Comic Action Heroes?

That's a great piece, my all time favourite. I've often thought that it's merely something for the activator to clip into somehow but seeing as the activators I own don't work, I could never explore it.

Anything that was produced for a couple of years (the Tower, FOS, Exploding Bridge) and put into catalogs pops up pretty frequently. Carded figures have a certain regularity although certain characters like Captain America and Green Goblin remain tough. The one hit wonder stuff like the Batmobile, Spider-Car and Mangler that prove troublesome.

Those numbers were loosely compiled by me and a good friend of mine who is also into the line. They're far from scientific but just based on the collector market.

I love your website! Thanks for the reply. Looks like you door frame is missing the piece as well...do you think it was never shipped wit the Fortress?
