What are the best ways to clean Mego heads and accessories? Specifically, items like Batman's head, Green Arrow hat, and other accessories that get that dirty look to them. Is just warm water on a cloth the best way? Or, is there some better method? I did a quick search in the forums and didn't see anything on this.

Honestly, it depends on several factors. If the item that you're cleaning is one solid color (Green Arrow hat) you can use something with a little more kick than if the item that you're cleaning has paint (Batman's head). Overall, a great way to start is warm water, but always be careful with the paint on the heads - it comes off pretty easily sometimes! Mild dish soap is a good second step if the warm water just isn't cutting it. If you don't have to worry about paint, you can even use rubbing alcohol - but when you get into that area, you've really got to be careful!!! Sometimes a little elbow grease goes farther than product. Rather than just soaking Green Arrow's hat in warm water, you can wet a Q-tip to clean a lot of gunk. You can see just how much it's helping by the color change on the Q-tipThere's probably no one answer to the question, but hopefully this helps some.
Nostalgia just ain’t what it used to be.Comment

Always go with the mildest first, warm water is a geat place to start. Then move to soap if needed.I used this method, and still had marks showing.
Using a Q-tip and nail polish remover, I wiped just the area of the markings and quickly washed off the head with warm mild soap water. You don't want the remover sitting on the plastic for any amount of time. It worked. The marks vanished with a light rubbing.Last edited by dr_cyclops; Dec 18, '09, 9:56 PM.Comment
