AJ neck discoloration

I did try to shave one down with an exacto knife and the discoloration became darker the deeper I cut, would that make sense due to the chemical breakdown?

The break is coupled by the fact that the coloration pigment is thin in that area

I have one or two with the discoloration in the exact spot and it never spread weird. Maybe it is just a bad batch??
