Is this a Mego batcopter?

This is my batcopter that I had as a kid but it doesn't look anything like what I've seen in the museum or at the mego meets or people selling at the marketplace. It does seem to fit the mego people and I have the bat lab and car that's mego. What do I have?

Yep, made by Empire, essentially in the hopes you'd put your Mego figures in it.

I remember being so disappointed when I ordered my Batcopter through Heroes World and getting Mego's Batcopter when my best friend had this Empire Bapcopter. Just didn't compare side by side.

empire made a spiderman copter, a chips copter, vans for several figures...there was something for Hulk too I believe

Yep, Hulk had a van and a helicopter too I believe. I always wanted one of these...Had to "settle" for the Mego copter, which I always referred to as a Whirlybat instead.

I remember another great looking toy helicopter that was scaled for 12" figures that would have made a nice Batcopter too. It was usually advertised with the six million dollar man figures, and I think Big Jim had one in the UK?

You know what is kind of strange, they made a van and copter for Spidey, Hulk and Chips but only a copter for Batman. No van. A big Empire Batvan would have been fun!

I had the Spider-Man copter as a kid. I didn't know of the Empire Batcopter or the Mego version either. When I saw the Mego version for the first time as a teenager, I thought it was mega-lame compared the Empire's copters. It's definitely Mego's most child-like offering for WGSH. I have one now, and I have come around to really liking it, but as a kid I would have much preferred the Empire one.

Hmmm....maybe they didn't make the van because Mego had made the very similar Bat-lab? They would be closer in design than the two copters were. Just a guess.
