    Oxyclean Question

I just washed a few suits in Oxy Clean and it worked great! However, when I laid the suits out to fry, some dye leeched into the paper towels they were laying on. There was absolutely no bleeding in the costumes, but I did not expect the leeching. Is that unusual?

On a side note, is there a good way to remove emblem stickers to clean suits. I'd like to do a few more, but I do not want to damage the stickers.

When I would wash the dark blue aj outfits in Oxy it would leach onto the paper towels that I would have the outfits laying on as they were drying out. So it can happen. All depends on how much dye is in the outfit. As for the emblem issue...you may want to dip a qtip in some of the Goo Gone solution and dab it on the inside of the outfit where the emblem is. will loosen the glue that is keeping the emblem on. Hope that helps.

Is OXYCLEAN a good substitute for Woollite..? I have a vintage Speedy outfit to clean up.

My wife suggested just a few drops of color safe laundry detergent in cold water would suffice, but I'm a bit too cautious..

      Please chime in..

      Thanks,

Thanks for the emblem removal tip, Roberto.

And David, as for the Speedy uniform, I just cleaned an Iron Man uniform and it looks pretty darn amazing now. I'd imagine Speedy would be fine.

I used Oxy Clean on a few suits and it worked great. I dry mine on a cookie rack out of my wife's kitchen!

Ive heard to not wash certain uniforms because they will bleed together. Is this true?
I was told to never wash a Neptunian suit for example.
I'd also like to dip my white half of cheron in to just brighten it a bit but im afraid of fading or bleeding the black side.

I washed mine like I do all of my toy cloths and it was fine, what is the reported problem with washing them?

I just use some ivory bar soap and get it on my hands like I'm washing my hands and just rub the suit around in my hands like I'm washing them, then I rinse and press them in a towel to dry them off.
It works for me and I have never had a problem.

I was told the red will bleed into the green if you wash a Neptunian suit.
I have seen blue come out of dark blue clothes into the water when i've washed those color items as well as some greens and reds but I have usually only washed single-color items or ones that have printed designs (like penguin or Joker).
I usually pour a little bit of laundry detergent in a big mixing bowl and add water then swish, squoosh and squeeze, rinse, repeat. Usually I will soak them for awhile before the first rinse. Then after squeezing the excess water i lay them out on a dishtowel and flatten out so no wrinkles.
I have bleached totally white objects with mostly good luck. I even had a discolored (tannish) karate suit that came out sparkling white.
I'm still a bit nervous about washing the cheron outfit.

I just added 1/8th of a cup to 16 oz of hot water, swished it around and then poured it over the suit as it sat in a tupperware container. i let it sit for 20 minuted and then rinsed it out on cold water. It sat flat to dry on a paper towel.

The dye does run on some suits, especially suits with black - like Thor.

I tried it ( Dilluted Oxyclean not anyone's formula or Mix ) several years ago on a Batman suit , and well a few weeks later a holes started appearing on the suit. It's like it ate the fabric. I am not though if too much was used, or if it was a bad batch or whatever.
