    Green Trek Phaser

Can someone tell me if this is a rare sought after thing, a known defect or what?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Original-1973-Mego-Phaser-Star-Trek-Series-VF-NM_W0QQitemZ290316943316QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_Defa ultDomain_0?hash=item43983cffd4&_trksid=p3286.c0.m 14&_trkparms=72%3A570|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A 1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50

    Thanks.

Many Star Trek phasers turn green after time -- I would say at least 35% of all phasers have turned green.
It's the plastic getting old and reacting funny over time.

    It's not a rare variation.

The one advantage of having a green phaser in knowing it's absolutely not a reproduction.

    Side note,
Strangely enough, communicators RARELY turn green --- and tricorders never do (as far as I know)

    hope this helps

Y'know, that IS weird, once you actually stop and think about it..

I figured they're all made from the same production process, just different molds. Hmmm.
      Peace.. Through Superior Firepower.

I replaced the Romulans red phasers with the "green" ones;so the Federation is blue,Klingons red and Romulans Green...as for the communicators,a piece of green plastic
        can do the job,et voilà!
P.S.:Check the guy at the right of pic.
I can do some extra communicators if one's need a few,PM me.

the plastic used for the phasers is different from what was used in the communicators and tricorders so that should explain why one turns and the others do not

I think the same plastic is used on the Star Trek walkie talkie communicators. One of mine has turned green.

Could-it be that the sun could play a role in this...(figures on display)
Over time it would create a chemical reaction turning it to green!!!

I found a phaser from my childhood, it had been in a box for almost 30 years. It was green

Think B.A. Where did you hide the Megos?
