    Hi Mike

This is a photo Ive seen a few times of Corny, but it is a loose figure so Im not sure..

And this ad shows general boots rather than hiero boots...

Its really interesting this, bit like archeology in away, trying to uncover the past.

Now that the Museum is being indexed by all the search engines, someone doing a search for "pantsless monkeys" will get this thread as the number one search result.

What's frightening is probably the number of related searches for anyone looking up just 'pantless monkeys'.....there are probably a few sites that aren't Mego related!!! lol

        Which is slightly scary!!! lol

Hey Jim, thanks for the vote of confidence

All that I knew is now in your posession and most of it was pulled from other threads and info especially on the old forums. The boot issue is a tough one as I never owned a boxed item but as far as I was aware they came in heiro boots (except Bill) and all came on dark brown bodies (again except Bill). The plastic was slightly different on the heads and bodies on the ones that I had. The heads didn`t have the same density of plastic (almost a bit more rubbery) and the bodies seemed to be of a slightly softer plastic (hard to explain until you can compare one to a regular body).
The copyright info on the bodies was scrubbed (in the mold) on three of the five I had and I understand that it was acceptable either way.

Hey Mego70 - welcome to the boards Rob

                  Hello,

I have a question about the Cipsa line of Apes I was hoping some of you might be able to answer. I bought a Cornelius and General Urko about eight years ago which were supposed to be complete and original. Surprise, surprise an eBay seller had it wrong, but I digress. My question involves the boots. The Urko had on a pair of combat boots, which I know were wrong and have no clue what line they go to (they are 8" scale, but rubbery and way to detailed for Megos). But the interesting pair was the other set which are a pair of Hyro boots which have been cut down, below the graphics. They appear to have been done by the factory, but the looks of the beveled seam. Has anyone every heard of such a thing? Or is it more likely that a previous owner did this for some reason. They are definitely an original Cipsa pair (shiny and thicker plastic) and not American issues. Your thoughts.

Also your new search feature is working. I didn't find the thread by searching "pantsless monkeys," but I did find it through a Yahoo search for Cipsa Apes

                    Hi, welcome to the forum!

That sounds odd, I've never heard of a cut down hiero boot for any Cipsa apes. You're right, the thick, shiny plastic definitely sounds like they are Cipsa boots. Would you be able to post a closeup pic of the boot?

Hello there, and welcome aboard, Friend of Ziras!

                      The CIPSA POTA boot mystery.
I have definitely logged some hours staring at the CIPSA Bill box to see if Zaius' boots are taller than the soldier apes, and I think they are.

[Note: Mike, I'm about to use a picture from your KICK@$$ collection! Hope you don't mind, buddy!]
The set in marmes collection all have the tall boots, and I believe all four pair are hieroglyphic style. Is that right, Mike?

Oftentimes, these CIPSA Apes are found loose with a generic almost HERO-style black boot. That is most likely folks just trying to complete the figure with a black boot and not a factory original, but then again. . . .there isn't a lot of information to confirm that there is only ONE, or only TWO, or possibly THREE styles of CIPSA Ape boot.

If you show us a picture of what you have, it would be great to see!
                      :-)

                      Have fun around here!
                      Bryan

                        Yes Bry,

All my CIPSAs have heiro boots made out of different plastic than US or UK ones.Rifles are different plastic too and molded a bit different.
                        CIPSAs are COOL!!

                          Hey Guys,

I snapped this picture this afternoon of the set of boots I was talking about that were on the Cornelius and also a picture of the rubbery 8" scale ones that were on Urko--I figured maybe someone would know were they came from as well. Let me know what you think.

I also figured seeing you guys do Mego stuff you might be able to give an idea of what you think the ratio of orange haired Zaius's are to yellow haired ones. I know the Museum says this is not a legitimate variation but I figure it is. I have never seen various shapes on a scale from orange to yellow--have any of you? The ones I see its either yellow (rarely) or orange.

I have a Zaius that is more yellow than orange, but not quite yellow. It certainly appears to be in transition from what was once orange to yellow.
