I have read in the past that the term World's Greatest Superheroes was coined by Mego and later sold or surrendered to DC and/or Marvel. Is this true and are there any documented facts to back it up?

No, you didn't dream it.I recall reading in several places that Mego
trademarked the term "Worlds Greatest Superheroes". According to Ben's book, Mego filed documents involving the term with the US Patent and Trademark Office. From what I remember, neither Marvel or DC was happy with Mego taking control of the word "Superhero", so Mego transferred the rights (without payment) for Marvel and DC to share (I can't find the exact story or details on this part. Maybe it's mentioned in Ben's book too, but I couldn't find anything when I quickly flipped through it)Comment

Marty just recounted the story at the NYComic con last week. He said he walked into a room full of lawyers and was told to voluntarily relinquish the rights to the name or they would pull the licenses from him. He gave them ownership of the trademark and in return they allowed him to use it. He wanted all the superheroes under one brand.
