    graying Lone Ranger Outfit

I have a Lone Ranger that I've kept in the box for years. I took him out to look at him and his blue uniform has turned gray except for where it was tucked into boots, etc. Anybody else come upon this. Should I try cleaning it or is this just "what happens?"

Not much you can do.....The fabrics used for this toy line were bargain basement unfortunately, and fading is only one of the issues collectors now face.
The only thing they do worse than fade is crumble into dust....Seriously, they actually get to a point where the cloth becomes brittle and literally disintegrates. Had it happen to Butch Cavendish outfit....Now hes wearing a hybrid suit from Big Jim and GI Joe.

I would strongly advise against cleaning the outfit...it wont help with the fading, and may just accelerate the general degrading of the cloths integrity.

It is so weird because every thing else on him is great. The mask, hat, accessories, etc. Thanks for letting me know.

        Perhaps you could redye it?
I see a ton of them on ebay with that color. I just assumed they were played to death but now you say yours is in the box? That's odd cuz you'd think the air/light exposure would do that if anything and being tucked away would usually help avoid those kind of problems. Of course then you never get to enjoy them.

I've seen this happen to fabrics that were stored for many, many years in attics and basements. I found a porch awning once, all rolled up and when I touched it, it just broke in my hands. Seen it happen to hammocks, too. This was in Buffalo so can't totally attribute it to a hot, hot climate. Perhaps a combo of humidity & heat? I've always wondered what causes this.
