Where did you dig these articles up? They are over 10 years old.
My personal thought on the Taylor card: If it was real and had 3 new figures I find it unlikely they would have had Zaius & Zira on the card too. More likely would've added the head shots or had two more figures in the third wave. Plus why would there be a price sticker on it? I HIGHLY doubt Mego would've done some kind of "test" sale and only produced a few (a case or two??) figures and distributed/sold in a store and NOBODY would EVER remember having one. Undoubtedly at least ONE would've shown up by now either as a prototype figure or .,...?
I agree..it's gotta be a fake.

You can easily tell its a fake-custom card my friends,...1st clue,..why not show the back of the card? 2nd and most easily clue of all,..if you look carefully the front of the card, where it shows the characters,..notice how white the names of the three "rare" figures are compared to the other apes, which seem darker and older,....see the difference, when all letters should have the same hue? Believe me friends,..its custom made in my opinion,...anyone agrees in my theory?
