Does size really matter?

Call it a simple question,but hey I'm a simple minded person.Just wondering why all the lines of megos were 8" but the Flash Gordon figures were done at a larger scale.

I thought it was due to different production facilities used internationally, improved tooling, etc.

the Doctor Who items were also done at that scale.

The 8 inch Figures are a Perfect size but I Also dig the Flash Gordon Line
