Need Help Fixing My Tardis...with Dr.Who price check.

Hello, I am new to this community and I will post an introduction soon enough, but I am happy I found this forum and amazing site.

I recently bought a tardis for about $170.00 USD (shipping included) from EBAY. I was very happy with the win as the prices for this thing are usually insane ($200.00+). The only issue is that when I received it today (from the UK) the roof light was broken (not attached). It said nothing in the auction about the light being broken, but shipping this thing back to the UK will cost me some money.

Does anyone know how to fix this or if there is some tutorial out there that shows how to fix this?

Everything else is in great condition and so is the original box...but I’m new to this, so I don't know if I have buyer remorse or if I got ripped off. Does anyone think that $150 was a good price, or should I return the damn thing?

Another question, and please have patience with me as I am a newbie,
I've recently won a Doctor Who as well, in the box...but he has the cracked ankle syndrome, his nose has slight discoloration (don't know if it is rubbing or graying), and his hat has these odd small holes, but they look like it is a defect from the factory. The doll cost me $90.00 with shipping. Is that a good deal, or should I return that sucker as well?

Please let me know, I'm trying to make sure that I'm spending wisely on the key figures I'm hunting down...and I'm still new to collecting. These figures have been on my check list for some time, and would hate to loose money on shipping returns.

    Thanks,
    Alejandroid

Use my TARDIS Repair guide (with pictures..)

Send me your email and I'll forward you my document in Word. Dave Mc had said he was going to post it somewhere under customizing/repairs, but I don't know where that is. I show explicitly how to fix both the doors and the light for under $20.

Sounds like the Baker figure's a bit rough.. With the Italian box in so-so shape, you did good (the UK box would be a lot more...). As for his condition, if you didn't get the sonic screwdriver, then I'd consider returning him. The cracked ankles are very common, so that's another indicator you might have done better. Never heard of the holes in the hat..: I've bought about a half dozen Bakers a few years back and none of the hats had holes (they always came in a small plastic bag, not stapled to anything..).

If you need a replacement figure, the rare 'Nightmare on Elm Street' figure's the same body mold, and they're usually found MIB yet for a cheap price, so you can get those with perfect ankles..

    Contact me for the guide..!

Just sent you a message with my email

      Hello David,

I just sent you a message with my email. I hope I can repair the tardis. I really hate ebay returns. You loose money, even after you get screwed. As this was 170.00, I'm hoping it is worth the trouble.

As for the doctor, he is complete, and Italian Box in NM condition... the only issues are the holes in the hat, rubbed/discoloration on the nose, and the cracked ankles..

here are some pics of the poor doctor,

thanks again and I look foward to that word file

I just PM'ed you my information, but it looks like you did SUPER.. The TARDIS lamps are super EASY to fix, with a quick trip to the hardware store. Forgot to mention in my PM, look around here for the SUPER Leela custom someone made, using a Mary Ellen Walton's Mego figure and some pleather. It's totally cool and would look SUPER next to Tom.

Here's a pic of my Tom..

And an earlier pic with my repaired TARDIS..

        Peace.. Through Superior Firepower.

Totally not a problem ~ I'm just glad I saw his post and could help. For how irritating a broken TARDIS can be, the repairs are pretty cool to do, and will save $$$, much like repairing our vintage figures.

Thanks David. I got your email and hopefully I'll be able to fix the Tardis over the weekend.

By the way, great looking Tom Baker custom. Very Sharp.

I think you did Ok. Those things are not cheap.
The only problem I have with my TARDIS is that the panels stickers on the doors have come loose (in the middle), causing a "bubble".
                Bloody annoying.

Nice custom outfit in the Doc, indeed.....

Thanks much.. It's a simple steal from CPT Picard's 'First Contact' 9" outfit, but I've been wanting to replace the black 'leather' collar and cuffs with a brown cordoroy. It would look much better.. and more intune with his later looks. You'd think the old gray pants would look alright with that coat, but it doesn't, hence the tan pants from the Picard figure as well..
