The ones that were available boxed were:
Urko
Ursus
Galen
Astronaut (but the "Astronaut" box could contain the Astronaut, Virdon, or Burke.)
BTW: mego73 makes excellent repros of these boxes as well as "fantasy" boxes for the rest of the APES line.Comment

It's kinda odd that it's the 2nd series that are aviable boxedComment

I had him. (correction: I STILL have him!)
My first introduction to Megos was a friend that was the son of one of my Mother's friends. (in otherwords I only played with him when my Mom saw her friend). He had Action Jackson and all the first series POTA. He actually let me borrow them and I took them home to play with. I also broke his Astronaut helmet. Funny, I don't recall ever playing with him again. LOL
Well, now I just HAD to have them. I was hooked!
My Grandma bought me the whole set and the treehouse. I believe she ordered it from Sears or some catalog and it must've been for my birthday (had to have been circa 1974) because I KNOW I didn't get them for Christmas. I seem to remember everything was in plain brown cardboard boxes. Dont recall any Mego packaging.
Well, anyway I also wondered why he didn't look like Taylor but who cared in the end. It was such a cool set of toys.
Long story short, not long after, I stepped on MY Astronaut helmet that I had carelessly left on the stairs and haven't had one since. (I don't believe in Karma but call it what you will. LOL)
In the process of reacquiring that helmet now with a forum member. If anyone else might have one for sale before I buy that one I would be interested to know because it's always nice to have a choice.

I did want to ask: Did all of your figures come in individual "plain" boxes too or was this some type of "gift set"?
(And experts: Did the TREEHOUSE gift set ever come in "plain packaging" or was it only available in the box with the graphics on it and the sticker saying that it included the five figures?)Comment

It must have been different in Canada because I know mine were boxed and I got Zaius, Corny, Soldier Ape and the Astronaut all in those beautiful boxes with the trees or bamboo or whatever it is.

Definitely catalog order packaging... No bells or whistles there...

Maybe some other lucky kid has a better memory than me or has some pics of his similar set? (Or can confirm my memories??)

Yes Sir. I remebered it distinctly. They were waiting on the mantle Easter morning and the one thing I always remembered, aside from their demise at the hands of my cousin, was the incredible boxes. I also remember exactly which figures they were because I never knew Urko existed until a few yers later when a friend showed him to me. I had Zaius, Corny (Don't think it was Galen, I got the first series figures) Soldier Ape and Astronaut.
BTW, that pic is beautiful!
Wow. You mean Zaius and Solider Ape (Corny was labled as Galen in the boxes) were in this type of box?

MEGO "experts": Have any of these boxes ever been documented? I'd like to see pictures of them if originals still exist...Comment

It has been believed that only Astronaut, Urko, Ursus and Galen got boxes.
But now I guess we have to consider the possibility that Canada perhaps had more characters.
It also may have been a very limited test marketing that happened in Canada.
