I have a several auctions a year and usually accept PayPal and money order. In my experiences, my buyers who used money order were veteran eBay members with excellent ratings. It's frustrating that eBay is forcing buyers to use and sellers to accept only electronic payments.

While I prefer using PayPal to send payment, I've purchased items from sellers who have a successful eBay business excepting only money orders or personal checks (some accepting cc if you call it in). It just seems so wrong that eBay continues to tighten the noose on its members.

I sell quite a bit and very RARELY get checks or money orders. It's more of a hassle with checks because I usually wait for them to clear before shipping the goods. I do think that the seller shouldn't be charged for the PayPal transactions though, it should be the buyer.

I don't think I will sell anymore, I don't like them inflicting shipping costs on me. The paypal thing don't bother me since I rarely ever got a money order.

If I can do Paypal w/o using a credit card, just through my bank acct, then probably yes. But I've never used paypal and resent being told what kind of payments I have to make on every auction.

As a seller, I'm looking elsewhere. This is just a precursor to a tax bill on my electronically-tracked Ebay sales revenues.

I only buy from ebay. I've never sold anything there before. So I'm pretty happy just using Paypal.

Since i've never sold anything on E-BAY mainly because i've never listed anything it makes no never mind to me as i prefer to pay via paypal anyway, But i think this is the first step for the states and goverment to be able to get there fingers in the pie as everything will have to go thru paypal all the records are there with all the info for income tax and state sales tax

I sell a good bit on Ebay and it's helping our family pay bills and get much needed home repairs accomplished.

As far as Paypal only, I'm glad to see it, actually. I switched to Paypal only awhile back because the only real transaction problems I've had have involved checks or money orders from deadbeat or incompetent buyers.

Our bank will no longer cash a money order for ANY amount, even $5-6 dollars...it must be deposited and clear just like a check. When dealing with international buyers, sooner or later you would get some money order drawn in foreign funds from a store or supermarket that no one would cash here in the USA. Even our local post office has scanners to verify postal money orders, and they have had fraudulent MO come through as well (not long ago there were 2 for $600 each that someone had sent and they had to call the cops in. Made the local paper's front page).

Bouncing check fees hit the seller first...then try to get another $30-40 to cover that fee from a deadbeat buyer whose check for $3.50 bounced! No thanks...with Paypal there's no more "check is in the mail" lines or "I sent a mo it must have gotten lost" or even "I sent you cash and you're a thief" (yeah, that happens- a LOT-read the Ebay feedback discussion boards).
My biggest gripe is not being able to rate buyers anymore who are slow pay or no pay or just insanely anal. Buyers can neg a seller for anything now including non-paying bidders who claim they sent a check. At least now when they claim they paid, Ebay can ask for the transaction id # from Paypal as proof so they cannot lie about it.

DHL is owned by Deutsche Post World Net (which used to be the state owned German postal system, now privitized). They are the world's largest transportation/logistics company (bigger than UPS and FedEx), I don't think ebay would be able to purchase them any time soon. The idea of ebay aquiring a courier company isn't a bad one, but they would have to set their sights lower than DHL.

That's funny since your last 6 transactions took place after you joined here. LOL.

Well there's really no other option with the same amount of traffic and selection. (SADLY!!!)
If there was, I would stop using ebay in a heartbeat.
I think they are greedy and have never sold anything (although I would like to) because it just seems like such a hassle and the add the fees onto that.
I prefer buying with paypal, though jjust because I hate having to go down and buy a money order.

The poll result so far backs up what Ebay allready know. Only 4 people out of 55 say they will never use it again and even then never is a long time.

They have a monopoly and they know it and will set the rules. I can't think of what they would have to do to cause a mass walkaway of buyers and sellers.

I usually either don't bid on MO auctions or IF i do I reduce my bid by $5.
Sellers kill themselves when that is the only option. (I would bid on personal check auctions - reducing my bid by only $1)

I do agree with what others have said that it is not good policy to FORCE people to not allow the use of them.

As a seller I didn't even want to deal with MOs - too many ways to fraud this.

and those 4 people WANT to not use eBay - but most likely will anyway.
