Mego of the Day: Hans Reinhart

Mego of the Day for Wednesday is Dr. Hans Reinhart, insane head of the Cygnus from the Disney Sci Fi Epic The Black Hole. Did you have the Black Hole guys as a kid? Did you play with them in character or use them as other characters? Is this the first time you've heard mention of it? Is it on your wantlist? Does it interest you?

IN, THROUGH ........ and BEYOND !!!!!!!

    Great movie and great character.

My only gripe with the 3-3/4" Black Hole Mego's was the fact they were always strung either too loose or too tight....
Their plastic was very ridged too and tended to break really easy-- missing fingers etc.
I wish they were designed like the old 3-3/4" Star Wars figures.

But, they're Black Hole --- and that's enough for me

OK, I'm a minority here, but no, I never saw 'Black Hole' ~ It just came sandwiched in between all these other post-SW movies with big budgets, so it never interested me. At all.

But this guy does have a super face sculpt. I've swapped 3 3/4" Playmates heads (to create custom ST-TMP and Next Gen figures to sell..), but I never tried any of these heads.

Never had any of the small figures from any of the lines. I actually don't remember seeing these in stores. But I'll get them eventually I think, when I have more room is display them.

I had the whole set (except for Bob) as a kid, this may be my childhood reinhart, I'm not sure. They kicked Star Wars figures butts when it came to articulation but as Mike said, the thumbs broke off real easy.

I always hated the lack of face paint, Mego put a lot of detail into the faces (well most likely Bill Lemon did) so it bugged me they didn't spend that little extra.

I do love the head sculpt. I'm amazed the shoulder and elbow joints are big-ase rivits.

Was there any connection between Mego and the company who made the 3-3/4" A-Team action figures (I forgot the company's name) ?
I noticed they're both very similar in design.

I would think that Howie Abrams had something to do with the production of those figures. In the late eighties early ninties generic Joe type figures started surfacing utilizing parts from the A Team, Black Hole, Dukes of Hazzard, Buck Rogers and even the Love Boat!

I never had any Black Hole figures as a kid, in 1978-79 in my neighbourhood it was Star Wars or nothing.

I haven't ventured far into 3 3/4" collecting (yet), but I do have the 12" Reinhart and thinks he looks great (err, except for the greying face)

The Black Hole scared the crap out of me as a kid. I had that evil robot with the spinny blade hands, Maximillion. I believe I incorporated him into my Star wars line up. He worked for Vader.

I'll admit, I've never seen the Black Hole. It looked kind of boring to me as a kid. As an adult, I'd really like to see it based on the things I've read about it here, but its one of those movies that is NEVER on TV, and I've never seen the DVD. Is it even out on DVD?

This guy looks like George Lucas!

It's on DVD and very common

AS a matter of fact it's been released twice in the USA

If you cant find it at Walmart or any dept store, your local video store should have it.

Cool Mike. It seems the Disney stuff never hits the bargain bins at Wal-Mart. You know, the $7 or 2 for $5. I guess that's why I've missed it.
