    Mego AFA Grading

Hello fourm members...I am new here and wanted to get some opinions...I am looking to accquire some WGSH graded by AFA....any reason why collectors wouldn't want a figure graded by them? To me if your looking to collect a carded/boxed figure, that would certainly remove any subjectivity as what type of the condition the item is in....PLMK know your thoughts...thanks..

Hello and welcome aboard, AFA is something i don't like but thats just me, I also dislike PSA graded sports cards but others love em, In the end it depends on you if you like it go for it, As i see it it has some advantages to a new collecter by pointing out if it has repo parts or the card has been resealed as there are some shadie sellers out there, Rember there is no wrong way to collect, Just collect what makes you happy

I wouldn't want a figure graded by them because they're too expensive. I could get the same figure not graded at a significantly cheaper price. I just don't think AFA means squat to many people in the Mego hobby.

I agree with Steve. I have seen many graded Megos over the years but have no desire to own one. I don't put much stock in a AFA graded piece. If I ever got one for nothing the first thing I'd do is crack that sucker open. But I know some people live by them.

Thanks....as a novice collector, the AFA grading would help me not get "burned"...might have to pay more, but it would be worth it....thanks...ok...anyone have any AFA85 or better Super Heroes...lol...

Yes, I have checked out the gallery...very informative. The WGSH book by Ben is UNBELIEVABLE with it's attention to detail....If I could buy the figures in person and inspect them, that would be one thing, but I don't always trust someones "description" or there less than detailed photos....I for one always preferred PSA cards, so AFA maybe for me when it comes to WGSH....

                hello and welcome!
plenty of members on these boards have minty crisp figures for sale from time to time.
stick around and you'll find AFA-worthy stuff without the AFA costs

Yep, and I hope it stays that way. AFA does not have any expertise in grading Mego items anyway.

                    Hello and welcome

I personally like afa graded figures,I think they protect the figures and you'll always get more money when selling them

I would like a single AFA Graded guy in my collection, but then my whole collection is loose and I am totally happy with it as it. My wish list would include the palitoy carded WHGSs complete and moc. But I wouldn't pick an afa unless I got a really good deal on it.

If I'm not mistaken, didn't they start out grading Star Wars figures? How exactly does that make them Mego experts? Or Hot Wheels or Barbie or so on?

First of all hello and welcome to The Museum. As far as my opinion on this issue is concerned this is how I feel on this topic and to each their own of course. Personally, I look at it like the grading service is nothing merely but a third party entity to cash in on the hobbies. Just another hand in the cookie jar so to speak. Some folks may swear by them and others like myself may feel that there is really no need for anyone "an expert" to tell me that a M.O.C. is actually M.O.C. Collect what you like and do what you like. That is my motto.

Wasn't AFA Started By ToyFare ?
Anyone look at the Ebay Mego Auctions for AFA Graded Pieces ?
Would Anyone Pay those prices for those Pieces ?

I dunno... To Me,.. AFA = Heavy Over Priced Figure.
