No not yet, this is an old post dug up. We're doing site updates for the next little while, which IMO is better than MOTD.

As a kid, the only soccer we regularly got to watch was a show on PBS called 'Soccer Made in Germany.' I've played soccer my whole life, but I never knew my favorite toy company had immortalized Der Kaiser until I came here.

I'm sure there must be a Pele version of this in South America, if not Mego missed out big time.

Alright, you've tapped into my soccer nerd

Did you see this great commercial from the World Cup where they digitized Beckenbauer into the sand lot game. Aside from being a great soccer bit, it taps into that sand lot fun we had imagining playing with all our heroes-

And for more Mego/Soccer fun, check out Brian's pics of Chris DVM's collection at Mego Meet. His Steve Goalgetter stuff is amazing. If I had that sweet collection, I think I might have to start getting custom uniforms for my favorite teams. Like trhis 70's FC Barcelona Jersey-

I must have missed this thread when it first came up. Beckenbauer, Pele and Giorgio Chinaglia was what watching the New York Cosmos Soccer was all about. Every Saturday afternoon on Wide World Of Sports. Pele of course over shadowed them all. I still to this day don't understand how he didn't get some sort of action figure in the day. All he got was to co-star in a Movie with Stallone about 5 years too late for Soccer here in the US.

Didn't you guys get the Pele game with that sort of "super Jock" Pele figure? I know we had it in Canada.

I remember a Pele game. Probably was of the "Super Jock" type of game. A figure would have been cool though. I guess it wasn't done because Soccer was not as popular here in the US.
