    Mugato....who is he...really?!

(Sorry if I have this in the wrong section...didnt really know where to put it?)

Ahh, Mego's poor old Mugato. He never gets any respect, what with wearing that sci-fi disco-Stu outfit and not having a tail...He's kinda like that creepy old sportscaster who still wears 70's polyester suits, and has a toupee that looks less natural than Davy Crockett's coonskin hat.

I never had him as a kid, nor knew he existed until years later. If I DID have him, theres no way I would have played him as a real Mugato....would have made him into some other character...something more palatable (kind of like the Mego Gorn not being a Gorn, but a reptillian species within the Klingon empire).

Looking at the Mugato through todays eyes, I think I would make him some kind of villian along the lines of Harry Mudd or the Ferengi....kind of an intergalactic used car salesman.....who likes to kick back and boogie. My Sister used to be a natural at this, and would probably name him Schmedley (or something of the like) and give him a crazy British accent.

Anybody else do this as a kid, and if so who did you re-cast, and what did you recast them as?

I did some serious recasting as a kid.
The bionic woman became Luke Skywalker's girlfriend.
Yep, he liked 'em tall and blond.
Oscar Goldman was repainted green, and became Peter Boyle's Frankenstein monster in Young Frankenstein.
Cheron, for some odd reason, got a black and white cowboy outfit and became "little Han Solo". I have no idea why.

As for Disco Mugato, this is the one that got away when I was a kid. I never had him. Didn't buy him for being "too silly".
When the new one comes out, I'll be buying two. The loose one will get a custom white fur coat with all the trimmings.
I feel he deserves it, after being stuck in Disco Inferno for 30 years...
