    I got the Mego Tricorder

    Hi guys!

Well it came. The box is beat to pieces, but it works as far as I can tell, (except rewind), I haven't tried to record on it yet. A lot of you were wondering what was on the tape it came with. Someone thought it might be The Menagerie, Pt. 1. Well, I don't know if Mego put different eps on different tapes, (doesn't sound very cost effective to me), but on mine is a very abridged "Where No Man Has Gone Before", and after that, an abridged "The Corbimite Maneuver", and then a general ending of an ep I can't place, because it sounds like the ending to almost any Star Trek ep. I turned it over, expecting to hear some little kids goofy recording, but what I played was blank. Too bad. And those batteries were nearly impossible to get in. Y'know the Mego ad for this thing where you see the little kid running w/ the tricorder over his shoulder? That must have been one strong kid, b/c that thing is really heavy w/ the batteries inside!

Anyway, just thought I'd share. Comments?

Did you get it from superunderdoggie? He has like one hundred of them, literally. I looked at his display in Toy room central and was amazed. Great find!
Though you are lucky that you didn't get to hear what was recorded. It may have been some creepy 40yr old man who loves toys to much. Ummm, I forget were I am never mind that.

Congrats Sharry! Sounds like a fun toy. Thanks for sharing! I've often wondered what was on the tape.

I think it's great you picked that up and told us about it, Sharry.

Not sure what lunch at KFC has to do with anything.

Awesome Sharry, it's been a long time since I heard that tape. It would have been cool to hear some kids goofing on the other side.

Just curious Sharry, how many batteries does it take?

Glad to hear it still works.

It takes 4 Cs Chris, but they go in in such a weird way, I almost didn't get it. One of the contacts is removable and was in the wrong place.

I saw the Commercial for it on a MEGO DVD I got from Ebay. It got me all Jazzed. I really want one.

It's a wonderful feeling when You finally get it in your Hands. Thats the best part of Hunting for Toys. Congrats it sounds Really Cool.
