    Hey All!

I just joined the community and saw the Mego Museum website for the first time yesterday. I used to have many Mego dolls when I was a kid, but sold them all or they got destroyed and broken during my childhood. I want to say hi to everyone and thank anyone in advance for any help that they may provide.

For starters, I'd like to tell a small story about when I was a kid and how I sort of destroyed the Mummy. I was born in 1970, so my acquiring was done more in the 1975 - 1980 range with figures for Christmas. I had the main Star Trek people, except Uhura from what I can remember. Also a couple of superheroes, a few Planet of the Apes, some Action Jackson, and Frankenstein and Mummy. We'd play with the dolls in strange fashions. Jumping on sticks or sliding them down string across the room. One time I put the mummy on a lampshade. I forgot all about him and his arm melted to the lightbulb. We did manage to get it off, and a spanking for possibly burning down the house, but it's something I'll always remember.

About a year ago, I went to a fair and saw some Mego and probably non-Mego items for sale, real cheap. I came to this website because I had a doll I could not identify, and am pretty sure is a removable mask Robin. He wasn't wearing the Robin outfit, so at first I thought he may have been from a different line. But I compared the photo to the doll and it looks pretty accurate. I also have several outfits that I cannot identify. If I posted pictures, which forum would be most appropriate to show them for someone here to help me identify the items? I have a Zorro looking hat/mask, but is not the one that the Mego Zorro figure has, so I'm unsure where it's from. I also have a couple of outfits that look like pirates, one looks like Blackbeards, but is slightly different from what I see in the photo. So if anyone can point me in the right direction to post photos and possibly help me out, I'd be a happy person.

Somewhere down the line, I'd like to acquire the original monsters in the package or box. I have no figures for my personal collection, so these would be my first. I have to wait till school starts and I begin teaching again in a month to get paychecks though.

Feel free to pm me. Thanks again.

    Phil

Hi and wecome. I would put pics like you mention in the Mego Buzz category. You will be amazed at the skill people have here at identifying megos or other pretty much any toys for that matter. Careful about starting a collection it is highly encouraged, and also highly contagious.

                  Hi Phil
That RM Robin, was he nude or wearing clothes? Cause it also could have been the SI Dick Grayson Dick Grayson: WGSH Gallery: Mego Museum

Cool (but somewhat sad) story about the Mummy

                  Welcome to the madness

He wasn't wearing those clothes. In fact it was a strange outfit, which I'll post pics of in a day or two. There was a robin outfit, top and speedos. No mask, boots, or gloves and the logo on the chest is missing. So I assume it was Robin himself, not Dick Grayson. I didn't know there was Dick Grayson seperately, but I definitely do not have the clothing from the DG photo you linked. I did put up for sale on Ebay a removable cowl from Batman with his boots. There were baggies of stuff and only 2 dolls, the Robin and a soldier ape from PotA which I also have up on Ebay. Though he is naked. The Robin doll is in real nice condition too. Head is perfect with no wear. Maybe I'll take a pic of it and post it to show. I dressed him up in the Robin outfit already.

As for collecting, if you look at my profile, I do a lot of it. I used to have a store from 1993-97 for comics, cards, and toys. My wife wants to kill me, since I'm more addicted than anything. Just didn't get back into Megos, which I don't know if that's good or bad. I've had to curb my spending alot, not only because of money, but because of room. I probably have over 75,000 comics and over 5000 video games in my house. That doesn't include the books I buy and the tons and tons of trading cards I have. I also do scratch off lottery tickets. I've done stamps and some coins too. So I entered the Twilight Zone a long time ago.

Anyway, thanks for the welcome and I'll get these photos up soon.

                    Phil
