If you visit Doc's site you will see on the first page that he received a Cease and Desist, (C&D), notice from the lawyers at Marvel & DC to stop selling any merchandise which was based on their characters. They were fully prepared to sue him.

While I am sure that Doc has received a C&D, there is no mention of it on the first page of his site.
