Are the Super Gals on display new or old figures? The picture is so small I can't tell.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Gals--cool. Surprised that Mod Catwoman is retained.

But for the Love of Mego, please tell me that the production Brainiac will not be kelly green. That is just wrong, wrong, wrong.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

Definitely the originals. The hands and the neck joint give it away. Given that the modern Mego female bodies got rid of the ball jointed neck, I'm imagining the new bodies will, as well.

Actually, for Mego, that's right. Hulk and Goblin were both that color green; Mego never had a light 8" green body I know of. Had they made Brainiac in the 70's, this is exactly what they would have done. And while I know his shirt was outright pink in most comic appearances, it was much more the fuchsia color in Challenge of the Superfriends. Some folks have already pointed to the color as a problem, but I actually prefer the darker shade. And the head is pure Bronze Age Brainiac.

Red Tornado, Firestorm and Fate all look amazing; the heads are nigh perfect. The Nuclear Man's shoulders looked a little funky in the early prototype pics, but they look fantastic here. I do wish we could see the flame on his head, but that's understandable in the box. Deadman and Bizarro look good, too, though I wish they hadn't done the shading on the heads. It doesn't stick out as much on Bizarro as most of his white body is covered, but Mr. Brand's exposed chest is pure white with no shading at all, so the head shading on him seems out of place. His collar is a little small, but I'm not sure of the material it's made from, so it's hard to say if it would have kept the shape if it was taller. The sculpt is great, though, avoiding the more skeletal look that's crept in over the years; again, this is the Bronze Age version I knew.

Very happy with the changes they made to Two-Face in the shirt and tie; the first images showed him with a much more modern looking shirt and tie combo. This, though, is right out of the same patterns as the Secret Identities outfits. Same with the jacket and pants; this is a 70's Mego suit. Now the orange and purple sides of the Bronze Age suit did regularly flip depending on artist and book he was appearing in. The checked pattern also switched every so often from the purple to the orange side, so the basic set-up here is accurate to some of his appearances. I'm not quite sure where they get the pattern on the left side from, though. I looked at a LOT of visual reference from 70's comics when I recently did Harvey, and I didn't see anything quite like this. Liberties with costumes isn't exactly unknown in Mego history, from Speedy's arms and legs to Zaius off-white suit, but I do wonder why this particular material was chosen. Again, what I see of the face is great. Mego is really nailing the sculpts with these, giving them nice detail and still making them look like something that could have been sculpted in the 70's.

That’s a great point about Brainiac—had Mego made him in the 70s he absolutely would have been that shade of green.

If I get the Catwoman it will be for the box only. I hated the Pirate Catwoman outfit, and they made it worse because its not even comic book acurate. The original Mego Painted Suit Catwoman would have been better:

No, I strongly disagree. The vintage bodies were a darker, mostly uniform, shade of green. And Hulk and Lizard have kelly green-colored vinyl heads. But Green Goblin has a distinctly lighter shade of green head vinyl--in fact, there are different production runs, with one run lighter still. The green shading of the face & ears varies , too--on some runs, it's more kelly and others with a blueish tint.

This is head color is more character-accurate and coordinates, admittedly roughly, with the lighter-green scaled arms and legs of the Goblin costume. In relation, I firmly believe a classic Mego Brainiac would, and should, be a lighter, more accurate /traditional green.

Also, I don't understand your focus on the body color--it appears to me that Brainiac is wearing tights, unlike the FTC SF version. So, the leggings could be the same color as Aquaman's, even with a darker body underneath.

I've wanted Brainiac for a long time, I guess I'm passionate about this figure.

Catwoman was the female equivalent of Mr. Mxyzptlk for me. I had very little interest in either figure, even as kid. Of course my primary references at the time were Eartha Kitt, Julie Newmar, and Lee Meriwether, but even in the comics I was reading and her 1973 7-11 Slurpee Cup, she was in the purple dress. I think I’m going to hold out for that version, but the other three are must buys.
