Nice to see the Mego Wizard of Oz figures making a cameo in this clip from the (IMO mercifully) shortlived "Brady Bunch Variety Hour." Fair warning, this clip includes the least funky rendition of "Car Wash" ever performed. (thanks to Jason Pankoke for pointing this out!)

That's just it, I didn't realize until I just got older, just how bad even the best variety shows were. I loved them as a kid. Only powerful waves of nostalgia can get me through an entire episode today. Especially those celebrity one-offs that popped up all the time.
Oh, I do love the "water" headdresses for the women dancing in the back!WANTED - Solid-Boxed WGSH's, C.8 or better.Comment

The Flip Wilson Show actually holds up surprisingly well considering it's from the same era. That being said, a lot of people tend to forget how popular those programs were at that point in time and that's why there were so many of them produced in the first place. The Paul Lynde Halloween Special is a personal favorite of mine, honestly. That's just it, I didn't realize until I just got older, just how bad even the best variety shows were. I don't think I ever saw an episode beyond the first one. We only had one television in the 70s and my parents controlled all viewing when they were home. I did get to see a lot of Sonny & Cher though, not that I wanted to.ScottComment
