    Your Favorite Mego/Nu Mego Body?

The recent release of the 50th Anniversary line had me wondering what is the best body Mego/Nu Mego has produced? The new WGSH line has great form, but the articulation isn't the best. The knees are an issue that comes to mind. I liked the body that is a part of this line:

I didn't notiice any issues with this body. The knees are fine, the overall construction feels great. Does anyone know why they changed?

While I like a lot of what FTC does, their bodies somehow feel flimsy or less weighty than a Mego body. They're okay though.

I don't know if I'm the only one, but I do like the old type II bodies. It might just be nostalgia, though.

My favorite would be the Shazam type body pictured above (Does it have a name?) What's your preference?

I still prefer Mego type 2 and with their earliest type 0 body with the rounded wrist connections ranking next.

I’ve noticed the FTC bodies use limb components that are hollow inside, probably why they don’t offer the same feel as what they are imitating.

The new bodies remove the bands inside and have had some rolling improvements but I still don’t like their general appearance. The torso to pelvis connection doesn’t offer realistic anatomy for any customs with exposed abs. They are also more super hero proportioned and feature a design on the band of the ‘underwear’ for whatever reason. The hands may be more accurately sized but they look small for a Mego and have that trigger finger look.

I'm a Type S guy. Modern aesthetics with a classic sculpt.

Mego's efforts, so far, don't compare.
Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figures

I like T0. If I were going to bring any body back it would be the plastic pin T0 AJ body. Light and repairable and no metal at all. Selling components of custom shape and size like bigger chests and hips and legs and arms for both male and female versions. It is the clunkiest Mego body but it has such possibilities.

Keep in mind, my perspective is as a customizer, and that is the primary viewpoint here. Classic type 2 is still the best, but the later modern Mego waves (after they fixed the jutting left hip joint, around the time the Caville Superman came out) have some distinct advantages while having most of the good aspects of the originals. THe form of the type 2s is basically a Neal Adams or Jim Aparo drawing in three dimensions (seriously, the torso shape is an almost exact replica of an Aparo super hero), and the proportions are excellent, beating out any of the other bodies for a super hero physique. Two weaknesses in the 70's type 2s were the easily broken knee joint and the thumb that often snapped off under the pressure of holding accessories. The newer body has a stronger knee joint I have had no problems with and the more flexible hands prevent the thumb breakage. The only weak area is in the band construction, with the hip pins being prone to breakage and the shoulder connections stretching. That and the added heft bring them in a little behind the originals. That's not to say there's anything wrong with the design of the newest bodies (once the knee joint is fixed, they'll be great). But the inability to disassemble and switch parts easily, as can be done with type 2s, makes them less useful in customizing.

I like the proportions on the new bodies...but do wish they were like type S bodies where one can disassemble them with screws..
            Wanted:

Diamond select Spider-man hands. Long shot, I know...but ya never know..

I guess for me it’s the type S bodies and original Mego type 2 bodies, it’s just amazing that something made 50 years ago is still as good or better than todays bodies.
