How do I clean the heads?

How do you clean a mego head. Its a vintage and is a tad dirty. Should I even bother? Also, I have a mego head (Space 1999 Alien) which is vintage and it has a few very small rubber growths on the back of his head. They are the same color as the head. I think it looks as though from the manufacture. Is this common with megos and molds?

Thanks, you guys and gals are great!

Whenever I purchase a used figure that looks a bit dirty, I always give it a good cleaning. Warm water and a bit of mild dish washing detergent should do the trick for a Mego head.

I use warm water, a tad of dish-soap and a toothbrush.

Just dont scrub too hard ....

Also, don't put it back on the figure until it's perfectly dry inside

I've used warm water mixed with oxiclean with good results

Think B.A. Where did you hide the Megos?

Pull the head off and drop it in a glass of cold water and drop in a denture cleaning tablet. You can get a box of em at Dollar Tree, for a buck, obviously. They work great and no scrubbing with a tooth brush. Squeeze the head and fill it with water so it sinks to the bottom. You can do 3 or 4 at a time. Leave it for about an hour or so and rinse em off. Works great. If you ever have one with something stuck to it like glue or wax, stick it in the freezer. Most stuff that doesn't adhere to the rubber will chip right off when it's frozen. Hope this helps. CG

Thank you all for such great tips. I am afraid of messing the paint but I really like the denture idea. ...
