Mego mention and appearance (?) on Venture Bros.

On last night's Venture Brothers episode, Doctor Oprpheus opens his desk drawer to pull out two action figures of his fellow Triad members the Alchemist and Jefferson Twilight, Blackula Hunter. When those two arrive, they think Dr. O has secured them a merchandising deal. But he has to tell them that "Hasbro passed". They then asked him if they sculpted them himself. He tells them that "for Jefferson I repainted an old Mego Falcon figure" and the Alchemist says "well at least you're not a Spock doll with a bald spot".

Not only Megos, but CUSTOM Megos. You gotta love that show.

Those guys are just all kinds of awesome with their pop culture references, I need to get a clip of that.

Didn't they already do a micronauts reference?

Yes. Col. Gentleman put that on the top of his "Toys Col. Gentleman Wishes He Had As A Lad, But They Weren't Invented Yet." in the episode "20 Years to Midnight".

In fact I can't say "Micronauts" now without saying it in a bad Sean Connery accent.

That is great. Serendipitously, I've just learned that the show's creator is a hard-core Mego fan, and even owns the book. I just posted a thread about it in WGT:

Venture Bros. Jackson Publick Loves the Book!

Also loved the debate about Antman. Never would have pegged Brock as the comic book type.

I'm digging this thread up because of this. I had no idea that there was a longer version of his list. It's on the deleted scenes section of Season 2. It seems Col. Gentleman also wanted a Captain Americar as well. And he must have really wanted Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots because he listed it twice.
