Mego Goblin in collection after 30 year wait!

I've been a Mego fan for over 30 years now, and today I finally got my Green Goblin.
    How's that for patience?

I'm sure it made it that much sweeter. Congrats! He is one of the better paint jobs Mego did.

I know the feeling, when I finally got a GG as an adult, after having dreamed about getting one as a kid, it was a great day. Definitely one of my favorite figures in my collection.

          Congrats Rik!

I have never owned a Goblin either, he is a great looking mego. Enjoy!

So, was it worth the wait? Are you happy?

That's awesome - I'm just now starting to reinvest in the old ones myself. I may have to pick him up myself. My problem is I traded all my Megos years ago for the vintage 12" Joes (60s/70s). Now I'm collecting the Trek line (which I never had as a kid, always played with a friends..), still have my vintage 1999 line, and FINALLY rebought Batgirl.

Geez, It must be the Dida Displays or something..!?!

Incidentally, other folk's toys WAS the cool aspect of growing up. I had a good friend a few grades younger than me who had nearly EVERYTHING of every line: First Mego, then Star Wars stuff, then Galactica toys. My mom was personally quite appreciative.
                  Peace.. Through Superior Firepower.

I guess it was the right time and the right price.
When I actively collected Megos first, when I was 10-14 years old, the selection was pretty limited. From WGSH they offered Superman, Batman, and that was about it. No Goblin, or Iron Man or Thor.
Then, in my late twenties, without the internet and all, collecting was pretty hard, having to use a fax machine, letters, phone calls. Basically, the age of the dinosaurs for a collector.
Now, the sky is the limit. A much bigger supply, because let's face it, kids are no longer playing with action figures. They want cell phones, Ipods, computer, motor bikes, and then proceed to girlfriends, fancy houses, cars, a divorce and a heart attack by the time they're 40.
They skip the phase where you play with figures and have to use some imagination.
So people sell off their figures quicker, I think.

And now, with this huge supply of collector targeted figures (with a hundred "different" Darth Vaders and all), vintage stuff has taken a tumble.
Sad for whoever shelled out $$$$ for a figure years ago, but a relief for guys who can finally pick up what they've dreamed of for years.
And if you're not super picky, you can do some good deals. It's the C-10 MOC that still does well, but loose has become more affordable.

And so I came to get my Goblin. He was just missing his bag (which anyone using an airplane can empathize with), and I customized his luggage while he was winging his way to Belgium. He now has storage for his pumpkin bombs, his green facial creams, and maybe even a small laptop.
When he saw it, he had a big smile on his face. As always...

Next month: the hunt for another Mego. One per month. Sweet....

PS: Goblin was my first buy on this forum. I think that if I'd stuck with E(vil)-Bay, I would have had either nothing, or a chewed up figure that was sold as "in prefect condition".

I think I'll stick to the Mego Forum from now on. It has a better class of people and figures...

                            Hmm...tough choice.
I'd really love Iron Man or Thor, but it will be a question of affordability.
Thing, Batgirl and Riddler are also favorites.
And of course, my only missing Trek: the Mugato.
If I had to pick one: Iron Man.

You can find them on the net, but usually with everything but their underpants missing, or at $$$$, so I'll have to wait and be patient again.
                            Hopefully, not another 30 years!
