    Toy show price check

I stopped by a modest 100 table toy show over the weekend:

Rochester Collectible Vintage Toy Show - Home

..and the most interesting thing I saw in the way of megos was a dealer who had five original window-boxed figures prominently displayed on his table.

    They were:

Shazam, mint in a very fine box, $150
The Thing, mint in a very fine box, $125
Tarzan, Robin, and Mr. Mxyzptlk in varying lesser condition and boxes, $100 each.

How are those prices? I've only done loose collecting, so I'm not up speed when you figure in packaging.

Also, one of the boxes (it was either Tarzan, Robin, or Mr. M) had an original price sticker on it from a store called "The Coloring Book". Anyone ever heard of it?

Sounds like a great price for The Thing, I definitely would have snagged him for that price. And pretty good prices for Shazam and Robin (depending how good his box was), especially for toy show prices. Tarzan and Mxy are traditionally not that much in demand and are usually on the low side in regards to WGSH prices, so if the boxes were lesser condition, the prices may have been so so or on the high side depending how bad the boxes were.

Thanks.. shows you how little I know.. the dealer had no prices marked, and I had to ask. In my mind I was expecting somewhere in the $75 range for either the Thing or Shazam, so I was surprised when he gave me the prices..

You might be able to get Tarzan and Mxy for less, but those were all good prices for C.8 or better boxes.

Those seem to be pretty good prices especially for toy shows these days. The last few shows I went to around here, I saw dealers asking for high prices just for loose, incomplete Megos On Ebay you might be able to find Tarzan and Mxy in fair condition boxes for less, but those other prices were pretty good even by Ebay standards, I wouldn't pass 'em up (provided I actually had the cash for once lol )...
