I've always loved the Ape films but oddly enough never had the itch to collect. To me they made too many playsets and weren't colorful enough outside of Urko.

Derry ran from 1974 until 1976, she probably sold very well initially, Ideal had big ambition for the line in 1975 where they expanded into other vehicles for her and then by 1976, she was back to the single cycle offering.

Evel was a tough act to follow, if she sold 1/3 as well, she was a hit.

I had several of the POTA figures as a kid, but I never had any of the playsets. I always wanted the Forbidden Zone, though. I was a WGSH kid and I enjoyed those playsets, but there was something about the Forbidden Zone that intrigued me. Maybe it was my fascination with abandoned properties. More likely it was that net trap!

Props to Santa for getting me the Evil Knievel and the Stunt Cycle Set. Seeing this article, I now know that it wasn’t an easy task!

I loved the Apes stuff. Had all of the figures, and the tree house and rock fortress. I never even knew about any of the other sets, or at least don't remember knowing about them as a kid
