Even though they were the Catman, Demon, Starchild and SPACE ACE, they did not refer to them as that on any products, they always used their real stage names. It wasn’t until Gene and Paul started having those new guys wear Ace and Peter’s makeup that they nearly always require their products to use the character names.
It’s not a big deal, just another ridiculous Gene Simmons thing.
^ Hey, good thinking! I hadn’t considered that, but that’s very interesting. I know that Hasbro has the Marvel license, but is it possible that Mego could make some deal just for 8” clothed figures? Docs other company did it, sort of.
As an aside, are we sure that’s molded hair on Paul? I have only seen the photo via my phone, but I zoomed in, a moment ago, and the hair over his right shoulder doesn’t look molded. I may be wrong, but I could swear I saw strands of hair in the close-up.

I got a second picture that I'm not allowed to share yet and it's totally molded hair.

It’s because Gene wants to blur the lines between Ace and Peter and those new imposters in their makeup/characters as much as possible. So that fans won’t pass on a “Spaceman” figure because it is Ace or that other guy. Because a LOT of people pass on products with the other guys, me included. Every time I see them I think of the stunt doubles from KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park. LOL
For the record, I'd be all over a KISS Meets The Phantom line. I've wanted an Abner Devereaux figure for about 40 years. Lol!
I don't know. I was never really a KISS fan. but if these look good enough in person, I will probably but just to support the line. I would really love to see the icons line expand. I mean come on, Jim MOrrison, Janis Joplin, The WHO, The Beatles, Mick Jagger, this could be a gold mine, if they can get the right licenses

Yeah, I believe that started to happen after both Peter and Ace sold their makeup design rights to Paul and Gene and has since become the canon descriptions on the vast majority of KISS merch.

Yes! I'll see your "Abner Devereaux" figure and raise you a Chopper, a Dirty Dee, and a Slime! That would definitely get me to buy the 8" KISS figures.
"It's like I said, Pops, Chopper don't hurt nobody unless he wants to."
