A new addition to the MegoMuseum galleries is the very rare Toltoys (Australia’s Mego distributor) example courtesy of our friend Tony at the amazing Analog toys channel.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...
I like how Mego was trying to segue from "hot pink=Batman" a bit. The last 12" Batman has a purple box. They never would quite break out of that spectrum, though.
There were two printings of the Mego 1978 catalog, one of the biggest differences is the evolution of the 12" Incredible Hulk prototype. The second edition is far more familiar than the original skinny version, more on this here:
This extremely rare Grand Toys card for the Human Torch is a true rarity, the first I've seen since I saw it hanging at Dominion Playword in the 1970s. Grand bought very limited quantities of this assortment so instead of creating their own card, they used Pin-Pin Cards from France (which were bilingual, important to Canadian laws) and put their own label on it.
The major irony of this is, the French Pin Pin toys cards have often been mistaken as being Canadian in origin, making this myth at least partially true, as long as it bears this elusive Grand Toys sticker. Many thanks to Mark S for this wonderful opportunity to showcase this incredible rarity.
A new addition to the Mego Museum galleries, the very rare Grand Toys Canadian version of the Comic Action Heroes Mangler or "Le Calendreur" in Quebec.
Essentially the same toy but there is something so classy about the Green Goblin being turned into "une crepe verte"
