It just struck me how very close I was to having the complete WGSH line.
Why I didn't have Batgirl is a mystery to me. I received the other 3 Super Gals at the same time (Christmas '74 or '75). A neighbor friend of mine got Batgirl at the same time. (He also got Burke and Urko the same day that I got Ursus, Galen, and Verdon)
I recall being at the Sunrise Mall in Massapequa (Long Island), NY just after Christmas 1976. My parents were exchanging gifts back to either J.C. Penney or A & S. The toy section was still set up (they only had a toy section at Christmas time) and I was looking at the Megos. I had received Mr. Fantastic, Thing, and Human Torch for Christmas and the Invisible Girl was right there in front of me and I asked my dad if I could get her. He told me no, that I didn't need "girl dolls". Which was quite odd since he was the one that bought almost all of my Megos for me, which included Wonder Woman, Supergirl, and Catwoman!! Since my birthday was in mid-January I figured that I would get her then. Alas, it wasn't to be.
I don't know if I knew there was a Conan figure or not. I believe that my Fantastic 3 were carded and I don't recall if Conan was on back of the card or not. I wasn't familiar with Conan anyway. I was only a sporadic comic reader up to that time and didn't really become an avid comic fan until the summer of 1977.
I forget when I first saw The Teen Titans. I know it was probably around my birthday but I'm not sure of the exact year. I was at Modell's with my Dad. Like normal kids when parents are shopping I was in the toy section. I was drooling over the Teen Titans figures. I wanted them but my Dad bought me 3 or 4 M.A.C. vehicles since I had gotten the M.A.C. mountain hq and other M.A.C. stuff for Christmas. I wouldn't encounter the Titans again until 1980 or 1981 when my "Isis friend" bought them at Child World in Bayshore, NY in the discounted racks section.
